Josef Lorenz

Hello there.

Welcome to my site. I am a bassist and musician currently residing in Syracuse, NY. Since 2003 I have participated as a professional musician in diverse settings, like rock bands, theatrical productions, jazz ensembles, and orchestras.

At the age of 8, I began studies on piano, followed by double bass two years later. Since that time, I have consistently engaged in music, expanding my skillset to include self-taught proficiencies in: electric bass, fretless bass, acoustic guitar, electric guitar, violin, cello, voice, percussion, and drums.

In 2003, I received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Performance from Ithaca College. Soon after, I resided in Rochester, NY, and Boston, MA for a short time before reestablishing Syracuse as my home in 2007. In 2014, my album, So Far Upstate, gained local recognition with a Syracuse Area Music Award ("SAMMY") nomination for Best Pop Album.

Aside from music I enjoy watching baseball, computers/tech, local history, table top RPGs, petting cats, and restaurants/dining. In the early 2000's I curated a local food blog called Pulled Into Syracuse focusing on the city's under-appreciated dining scene. During that period, I collaborated with Food Network and served as a restaurant columnist for Eagle Newspapers.
